Back together again...

We had our first visit with Maella today. It was so wonderful to see her again. She was just as beautiful as before, didn't seem to have grown too much which pleases me just fine. She can stay little forever! And we were so excited to find out she is not walking yet! Now we can experience that first together.

At the beginning of our visit she had been outside playing with her group. We went inside and had our time to ask the doctor any questions. We weren't prepared to do that today, I didn't have my list along. I just wanted to see my baby! So they gave us her schedule and then brought her in! Oh we loved seeing her and of course after that really couldn't think of any questions. So they told us we could take her outside. We should have known that might not be the best choice but it was beautiful outside. The problems were: she wasn't feeling that well - teething again; there was no clean place to set her down and let her play; she can't walk yet; it was hot and very sunny with small areas of shade (over 80 degrees today); and her friends were nearby playing and she wasn't with them but with a couple big strangers who don't speak her language. Poor kiddo, that'd make me upset too! When we had about 45 minutes left our translator suggested maybe we should go back inside. We brought her in and it was like night and day. That child came alive! She was so much happier being able to roam in the room, play with toys, play little games with us, it was comfortably cool in the room and she just was so happy. She smiled and giggled and wow did she jabber! We got to see some very precious looks on her face that we hadn't yet experienced. What a sweetheart. Near the end of our visit they brought in her snack. She fed herself this little wafer cookie and I helped her drink some juice... out of a teacup - they do not use bottles or sippy cups in the orphanage. It was so adorable watching her slurp that juice out of the cup, her little teeth bumping against it. It brought tears to my eyes.

Tomorrow morning we have our court appointment. Please be thinking of us on Monday night as Krasnoyarsk is 13 hours ahead of Central time.

Praying court goes smoothly and that the 10 day wait goes well, too! If you know your specific court time, can you post it so we can pray at that specific time tonight?

God bless,

Heather
